Amazon EC2 I8g instances now available in AWS Europe (Paris), Asia Pacific (Jakarta) regions
Amazon EC2 I8g instances, powered by AWS Graviton4 processors, are optimized for storage-intensive workloads and feature third-generation AWS Nitro SSDs for improved real-time storage performance and lower latency.
Amazon EC2 I8g instances are now generally available in the AWS Europe (Paris) and Asia Pacific (Jakarta) regions. Powered by AWS Graviton4 processors, I8g instances are optimized for storage-intensive workloads. They utilize third-generation AWS Nitro SSDs, delivering up to 65% better real-time storage performance per TB compared to I4g instances, with up to 50% lower storage I/O latency and up to 60% lower storage I/O latency variability. Built on the AWS Nitro System, these instances offload CPU virtualization, storage, and networking functions to dedicated hardware and software, enhancing performance and security for workloads. I8g instances are designed for I/O-intensive workloads requiring rapid data access and real-time latency from storage, excelling in transactional and real-time distributed databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, HBase, Aerospike, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Apache Druid), real-time analytics platforms (Apache Spark), data lakehouse, and AI LLM pre-processing for training. Available in eleven sizes, including two metal sizes, with 1.5 TiB of memory and 45 TB of local instance storage, they deliver up to 100 Gbps of network bandwidth and 60 Gbps of dedicated bandwidth for Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS).
