Amazon FSx for Lustre Intelligent-Tiering storage class now available in 13 additional AWS Regions

Amazon FSx for Lustre Intelligent-Tiering delivers the lowest-cost, fully elastic Lustre file storage optimized for mixed hot and cold data workloads, now available in 13 additional regions, significantly reducing storage costs for less frequently accessed data.

The Amazon FSx for Lustre Intelligent-Tiering storage class is now available in 13 additional AWS Regions across Africa, Europe, Asia Pacific, and South America. This storage class provides the lowest-cost and only fully elastic Lustre file storage in the cloud, optimized for workloads with a mix of hot and cold data that do not require consistent SSD-level performance. It automatically tiers data across three storage tiers (Frequent Access, Infrequent Access, and Archive) based on access patterns, with an optional SSD read cache keeping active data fast. It delivers high performance for active data in HPC and AI/ML workloads and low-cost storage for data accessed less often, charging only for what is stored with no upfront capacity to provision. With FSx for Lustre Intelligent-Tiering, customers achieve up to 34% better price-performance compared to on-premises HDD file storage and reduce storage costs for rarely accessed data by up to 96% compared to other fully managed file offerings in the cloud. With this expansion, the FSx Intelligent-Tiering storage class is now available for FSx for Lustre file systems in the following additional AWS Regions: Africa (Cape Town); Europe (Milan, Paris, Spain, Zurich); Asia Pacific (Hyderabad, Jakarta, Malaysia, Melbourne, Osaka, Taipei, Thailand); and South America (São Paulo).
