Amazon Time Sync Service adds support for microsecond-accurate time on 135 additional EC2 instance types in all commercial regions
Amazon Time Sync Service now supports microsecond-accurate time on 135 additional EC2 instance types, allowing customers to create a Precision Time Placement Group (PTPG) for enhanced timing precision
Amazon Time Sync Service now supports microsecond-accurate timing on 135 additional EC2 instance types across 12 families and is available in all commercial regions. This allows customers to directly use the reference clock in the Nitro system to easily order application events, measure one-way network delays, and speed up distributed application transactions. The new supported families include eight Gen8 families (C8a, C8i, C8i-flex, C8id, M8i, M8i-flex, R8a, X8i) and four Gen9 families (C9g, C9gd, M9g, M9gd). From today, customers can create a Precision Time Placement Group (PTPG) to access microsecond-accurate timing on these instance types. Customers requiring both low network latency and precise timing can associate the PTPG with a Cluster Placement Group (CPG) to also enjoy the benefits of microsecond-accurate timing for low-latency workloads.
