AWS Backup adds restore testing support for Amazon Redshift

AWS Backup now supports restore testing for Amazon Redshift, allowing you to include Redshift in your restore testing plans alongside other AWS resources to automate and verify backup restores.

AWS Backup now supports restore testing for Amazon Redshift. Restore testing automatically verifies backup recovery success and time. Amazon Redshift can be added to restore test plans with other AWS resources. The plan automatically selects recovery points, runs restores on schedule, and compares restore job completion times to recovery time objectives (RTO), helping assess disaster recovery and business continuity compliance readiness. When creating a restore test plan, specify Amazon Redshift resources by ARN or tag. You can choose to restore the latest recovery point or a qualified random one for each test. Optionally, use restore test validation to confirm the restored resource before AWS Backup deletes the test resource. This support is available in all AWS regions where both restore testing and Amazon Redshift are supported through the AWS Backup console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDK. For a full list of supported regions and features, see AWS Backup documentation. For more details on restore testing, visit the product and pricing pages.

Why it matters

This update is useful for users who need to automatically verify that their backups restore successfully and measure restore times. It helps evaluate recovery readiness for disaster recovery and business continuity requirements using AWS Backup's restore testing capabilities.
