Announcing second-generation single-rack AWS Outposts

AWS announces the general availability of second-generation single-rack Outposts, delivering the latest AWS compute, storage, and networking features on-premises for organizations with limited rack space.

AWS has launched general availability of second-generation single-rack AWS Outposts. This 42U rack integrates compute, storage, and networking into one compact unit for low-latency, local data processing, and data residency needs, delivering up to 2,688 vCPU and 100 TB of Amazon EBS storage. It supports the latest x86-powered EC2 instances (general purpose M7i/M8i, compute-optimized C7i/C8i, memory-optimized R7i/R8i, Outposts accelerated networking Bmn-sf2e/Bmn-cx2/Bmn-cx3a) like multi-rack Outposts. Ideal for space-constrained industries such as manufacturing and gaming, it helps modernize operations by utilizing available space and power. Both single-rack and multi-rack Outposts provide the same AWS APIs, management consoles, automation, governance policies, and security controls across AWS regions and on-premises locations. Available regions and countries are listed on the Outposts rack FAQ page, and access begins by opening the AWS Outposts console.
