AWS announces the general availability of second-generation single-rack AWS Outposts, delivering up to 2,688 vCPU and 100 TB of Amazon EBS storage in a single 42U rack for low-latency workloads in space-constrained locations.
AWS has launched general availability of second-generation single-rack AWS Outposts. This single-rack Outposts integrates compute, storage, and networking into one compact unit, delivering low-latency workloads and local data processing for space and power-constrained sites. It offers up to 2,688 vCPUs and 100 TB of Amazon EBS storage, supporting the latest x86-powered EC2 instances (general purpose M7i/M8i, compute-optimized C7i/C8i, memory-optimized R7i/R8i, Outposts accelerated networking Bmn-sf2e/Bmn-cx2/Bmn-cx3a). Single-rack Outposts enables on-premises modernization for organizations in limited-space environments like manufacturing or gaming, utilizing existing space and power. Both single-rack and multi-rack Outposts provide the same AWS APIs, management consoles, automation, governance policies, and security controls across AWS regions and on-premises locations.
