New feature

Amazon Aurora serverless now scales faster to support agentic AI and other bursty workloads

Amazon Aurora serverless now scales up to 256 ACUs in larger steps and automatically scales down to zero after workload completion, making it ideal for agentic AI applications with bursty activity and unpredictable traffic

Amazon Aurora serverless now scales up to 256 ACU, adding up to 16 ACU per second, allowing workloads to reach needed capacity faster. When workloads end, it automatically scales down to zero, charging only for resources used. This makes it ideal for bursty applications like agent-based AI with long idle times and unpredictable traffic. The feature is enabled by default for all Aurora serverless clusters running on platform versions 3 or 4, requiring no configuration. Existing clusters on platform versions 1 and 2 can upgrade directly to version 4 to use this improvement. Check cluster platform versions in the AWS Management Console instance configuration section or the RDS API's ServerlessV2PlatformVersion parameter. For pricing details and regional availability, see the Amazon Aurora pricing page. For more information, refer to Aurora serverless scaling documentation and create an Aurora serverless database in just a few steps using the AWS Management Console.
