Amazon EC2 introduces R8a instances in the Asia Pacific (Taipei) region, offering up to 30% higher performance and 19% better price-performance over R7a instances

Amazon EC2 R8a instances are now available in the Asia Pacific (Taipei) region. Powered by 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors with a maximum frequency of 4.5 GHz, they deliver up to 30% higher performance and 19% better price-performance than R7a instances. With 45% more memory bandwidth, R8a instances are ideal for latency-sensitive workloads. They offer up to 60% faster GroovyJVM performance, improving request throughput and response times for business-critical applications. Built on the AWS Nitro System with sixth-generation Nitro Cards, R8a instances suit high-performance, memory-intensive workloads like SQL and NoSQL databases, distributed web-scale in-memory caches, real-time big data analytics, and electronic design automation applications. The instances are SAP-certified, providing 38% more SAPS than R7a instances and come in 12 sizes, including two bare metal options.
