Amazon EC2 launches R8i and R8i-Flex instances in Canada West (Calgary), offering enhanced performance and cost efficiency for memory-intensive workloads

Amazon EC2 now offers R8i and R8i-Flex instances in the Canada West (Calgary) region. Powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors exclusive to AWS, these instances deliver up to 15% better price-performance and 2.5x more memory bandwidth than previous Intel-based instances. R8i instances provide up to 20% higher performance than R7i instances, with significant gains in specific workloads such as PostgreSQL databases, NGINX web applications, and AI deep learning models. R8i-Flex instances, the first memory-optimized Flex options, support common sizes from large to 16xlarge, ideal for applications not fully utilizing compute resources.
