Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL now supports PostgreSQL 19 Beta 4 in the Amazon RDS Database Preview Environment
Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL now offers PostgreSQL 19 Beta 4 in the preview environment, featuring improved query performance, autovacuum management, and bug fixes
Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL 19 Beta 4 is now available in the Amazon RDS database preview environment, allowing evaluation of the PostgreSQL 19 pre-release. It refines query performance and autovacuum management introduced in earlier releases, including bug fixes and stability improvements since Beta 3, such as updating pg_stat_autovacuum_scores for TOAST tables and adjusting freeze-score scaling for better autovacuum priority control. Parallel autovacuum rebalances cost limits between workers to keep maintenance within set limits for large tables. Database instances in the preview environment are retained for up to 60 days and are automatically deleted afterward. Snapshots created in the preview environment can only be used to create or restore instances within that environment. Databases can be imported or exported from the preview environment using PostgreSQL dump and load capabilities. Preview environment database instances are priced according to US East (Ohio) rates.
Why it matters
Database administrators and developers can verify the behavior of new PostgreSQL features in the preview environment before full deployment
