Region expansion

Amazon Redshift long-term system table retention with Amazon S3 Tables is now available in additional AWS Regions

Amazon Redshift now offers long-term retention for system table data via Amazon S3 Tables in additional regions, meeting compliance, auditing, and observability needs.

Amazon Redshift now offers extended system table storage beyond the 7-day limit in additional AWS regions, integrating natively with Amazon S3 Tables. This allows storing system table data for compliance, auditing, and observability needs. AWS automatically writes, partitions, compacts, and manages retention of system table data in Apache Iceberg format on S3 Tables. The data is replicated automatically, avoiding resource contention with custom ETL pipelines or production workloads. For multiple data warehouses, system table data can be aggregated into one location for cross-warehouse observability and analysis. The data is stored in open Apache Iceberg format, queryable by Redshift, Amazon Athena, DuckDB, or any Iceberg-compatible engine, enabling observability dashboards with AWS services or third-party tools. The AWS agent toolkit provides skills to query system table data for performance insights and optimization recommendations. This feature is available for Amazon Redshift Provisioned RA3 and Serverless in the following additional regions: Asia Pacific (New Zealand), Canada West (Calgary), AWS GovCloud (US-East) and AWS GovCloud (US-West). See documentation or blog for details.
