AWS Lambda Durable Functions are now available in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) and AWS GovCloud (US-East) regions. They enable building reliable, multi-step applications and AI workflows within the Lambda development environment, adding new primitives like steps and waits. They support checkpointing, automatic recovery from failures, and pausing execution without compute charges. The features can be activated for Python (versions 3.13, 3.14), Node.js (versions 22, 24), Go (version 1.24+), .NET (version 2.2), and Java (17+) functions using the AWS Lambda API, AWS Management Console, or AWS SDK. Infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS CloudFormation, AWS SAM, and AWS CDK are also supported.

Why it matters

Available in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, Lambda durable functions allow government customers and regulated industries to orchestrate complex processes such as order workflows, user onboarding, and AI-assisted tasks.
