AWS Batch now supports Amazon EKS access entry authentication

AWS Batch now supports Amazon EKS access entry authentication, simplifying cluster setup and authentication lifecycle management

AWS Batch now supports access entries for authentication to Amazon EKS compute environments. Access entries provide an API-driven approach to grant IAM principals access to Kubernetes clusters, complementing the existing aws-auth ConfigMap. This simplifies cluster configuration and authentication lifecycle management. To enable, set accessEntry.desiredState to ENABLED for the target cluster's compute environment using the CreateComputeEnvironment or UpdateComputeEnvironment API. AWS Batch creates one access entry per cluster and associates the AWSBatchClusterPolicy. Access entries can be configured via AWS CLI, SDK, or Management Console.

Why it matters

This change affects users who combine AWS Batch with Amazon EKS, making it easier to manage access to EKS clusters for AWS Batch compute environments
