AWS Clean Rooms now supports Databricks as a data source, enabling members and partners to securely analyze data managed in Databricks without moving or revealing the source data
AWS Clean Rooms now supports Databricks as a data source, enabling members and partners to securely analyze data managed in Databricks without moving or exposing source data. Members can directly query Databricks tables shared via Delta Sharing within the collaboration. Databricks joins AWS Glue, Snowflake, and Amazon Athena as supported data sources in AWS Clean Rooms. Previously, members storing data in Databricks had to export or replicate it to Amazon S3, requiring pipeline work and additional data copies. Now, by specifying the workspace URL, schema, table, and Delta Sharing share, Databricks tables can be directly registered and used in collaborations. For example, a retailer managing customer data in Databricks can collaborate with media partners on campaign measurement in AWS Clean Rooms, running authorized analytics on Databricks data without building and maintaining exports to S3.
Why it matters
AWS Clean Rooms enables companies and their partners to analyze and collaborate on their collective datasets without revealing or copying each other's underlying data. This update allows the use of Databricks as a data source, reducing pipeline work and data copying.
