AWS CloudShell adds a built-in visual file editor accessible via a single 'edit' command within browser sessions

AWS CloudShell now features a built-in visual file editor that can be launched directly from a shell session using a single 'edit' command, requiring no setup. This browser-based environment, which uses existing AWS Management Console credentials, now offers a GUI-based editing experience with syntax highlighting, find-and-replace, multi-line selection, copy-paste, and undo-redo capabilities-all within a single browser session. Developers, DevOps engineers, and cloud administrators can edit deployment scripts, infrastructure-as-code templates, agent steering files, and AWS Lambda functions more efficiently. The feature is available in all regions where AWS CloudShell is offered.
