AWS Marketplace launches support for Amazon Lightsail

AWS Marketplace now allows customers to deploy eligible AMIs on Amazon Lightsail, offering simple pricing and streamlined instance creation.

AWS Marketplace has introduced support for launching selected Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) on Amazon Lightsail. This enables customers to deploy eligible AWS Marketplace AMIs on Lightsail with just a few clicks, benefiting from predictable pricing and simplified instance setup. Lightsail instance bundles include compute, storage, and generous data transfer at a fixed monthly price, along with managed databases, containers, and load balancers. When subscribing to supported products such as Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft SQL Server Express, Ubuntu, cPanel & WHM, and Plesk, customers can now choose Amazon Lightsail alongside Amazon EC2. Selecting Lightsail redirects users to the Lightsail console with the chosen AMI and region pre-configured, allowing deployment at a fixed monthly cost in minutes. The 'Launch on Lightsail' option is available for eligible products across all regions where Lightsail is offered.

Why it matters

This update is particularly useful for users seeking simple pricing and management. Lightsail provides a suitable hosting solution for small to medium-sized applications.
