AWS MCP Server is now available in six additional AWS Regions
The AWS MCP Server is now available in six additional regions, reducing latency for developers and helping meet data residency requirements.
The AWS MCP server, part of the Agent Toolkit for AWS, is a managed model context protocol server that lets AI coding agents access AWS APIs through a single interface. This enables agents to discover and call AWS services without maintaining per-service integrations. Customers in these regions can run the AWS MCP server closer to them to reduce developer latency and keep request data resident, meeting data residency requirements. The AWS MCP server is accessible in all commercial AWS regions and currently runs in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Europe (Frankfurt), Europe (Ireland), and Europe (London). To get started, see the resources for getting started with the AWS MCP server, AWS MCP server endpoints, and quotas.
Why it matters
The AWS MCP Server is a managed protocol server that enables AI coding agents to efficiently access AWS services. This update allows development teams to manage resources closer to their location, improving development workflows.
