Amazon Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base Now Supports ServiceNow as a Native Data Source Connector

Amazon Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base now allows direct connection to ServiceNow instances, enabling automatic crawling of knowledge articles and service catalog items without custom ingestion pipelines.

AWS has launched a ServiceNow data source connector for Amazon Bedrock managed knowledge bases, a fully managed retrieval-augmented generation service. Customers can now connect their ServiceNow instances to crawl knowledge articles and service catalog items directly into managed knowledge bases. Previously, building and maintaining custom ingestion pipelines was required to import ServiceNow content into Bedrock knowledge bases; now, only ServiceNow instance credentials are needed to automate data crawling, metadata extraction, and incremental synchronization. The ServiceNow connector crawls knowledge articles and service catalog items, including file attachments, allowing AI agents to access organizational knowledge stored in ServiceNow. Using sys IDs, users can restrict imports to specific knowledge bases, article categories, or service catalogs, enabling easy development of IT assistants, HR help desks, and customer support agents based on the organization's latest ServiceNow content.

Why it matters

This update benefits organizations looking to integrate ServiceNow knowledge articles and service catalog items into their AI applications. Amazon Bedrock Managed Knowledge Base is a service that uses retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) to enhance large language model (LLM) responses with specialized knowledge, and the direct connection to ServiceNow eliminates the need for custom ingestion pipelines.
