Amazon EC2 M8i and M8i-flex instances are now available in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud (Germany) region. Powered by AWS custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, they deliver the highest performance and fastest memory bandwidth among comparable Intel processors on the cloud. Compared to previous Intel-based instances, they offer up to 15% better price performance and 2.5x memory bandwidth, with up to 20% performance gains over M7i and M7i-flex instances, and even higher improvements for specific workloads. They accelerate PostgreSQL databases by up to 30%, NGINX web applications by up to 60%, and AI deep learning inference models by up to 40%. M8i-flex instances are the easiest way to gain price performance benefits for most common workloads, including web and application servers, microservices, small to medium databases, virtual desktops, and enterprise applications, offering sizes from large to 16xlarge and ideal for applications not fully utilizing compute resources. M8i instances suit all general workloads, especially those requiring the largest instance sizes or sustained high CPU utilization, with SAP-certified M8i instances available in 13 sizes, including two bare metal and a new 96xlarge size for maximum applications.
