New feature

Amazon DocumentDB (with MongoDB compatibility) adds support for 5 MongoDB aggregation stages and change stream capabilities in version 8.0.2

Amazon DocumentDB now supports retryable writes, 5 new aggregation stages, and enhanced change streams in version 8.0.2, improving MongoDB API compatibility and query performance

Amazon DocumentDB (MongoDB compatible) version 8.0.2 now supports retryable writes, five new aggregation stages, and enhanced change streams. Retryable writes automatically retry insert, update, and delete operations during transient network errors, improving application resilience during failovers. New aggregation stages include $setWindowFields with full window operators, $bucketAuto, $facet, $graphLookup for hierarchical queries, and correlated $lookup. Change stream improvements add the $changeStreamSplitLargeEvent stage to split change events larger than 16MB into fragments and now include createCollection and createIndex operation events. Query planner enhancements enable index-only scans for find and aggregation queries, index scans on expr predicates, incremental sorting, and faster count and countDocuments(). The reIndex command now supports partial indexes. These features are available in all regions where Amazon DocumentDB is offered.
