Amazon EC2 R8g instances now available in additional regions
Amazon EC2 R8g instances, powered by AWS Graviton4 processors, are ideal for memory-intensive workloads, offering up to 48xlarge instance sizes and up to 1.5TB of memory.
Amazon EC2 R8g instances are now available in the Europe (Germany) region, powered by AWS Graviton4 processors for up to 30% better performance than Graviton3-based instances. Ideal for memory-intensive workloads like databases, in-memory caching, and real-time big data analytics, they use the AWS Nitro system to offload CPU virtualization, storage, and networking to dedicated hardware and software, enhancing performance and security. Offering larger instance sizes than R7g instances, R8g instances provide up to 48xlarge vCPU and 1.5TB of memory, delivering up to 30% better performance for web applications, 40% for databases, and 45% for large Java applications. Available in 12 sizes, including two bare metal options, they support up to 50 Gbps enhanced networking bandwidth and 40 Gbps to Amazon EBS. For details, see the Amazon EC2 R8g instance page. For guidance on migrating workloads to Graviton-based instances, refer to the AWS Graviton Fast Start program and the porting advisor. To get started, visit the AWS Management Console.
