AWS Agent Registry now supports custom metadata for registry records
AWS Agent Registry extends registry records with custom metadata, allowing organizations to add structured fields like team ownership and data classification for better governance and discovery.
AWS Agent Registry is a catalog for centrally managing agents, MCP servers, agent skills, gateways, and custom resources in an organization. With hundreds of resources, names and descriptions alone make governance and discovery challenging. Custom metadata allows adding organization-specific structured fields to each registry record, enabling consistent resource search and management for both humans and automated systems. Publishers can record fields like team ownership and data classification. A common attribute schema is defined once per registry and can be extended with type-specific fields, such as model families for agent records. Each field supports free-form text, URLs, booleans, or a list of allowed values. The registry validates required fields and values on record creation or update. Search results can be filtered by custom metadata fields. It is accessible via the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, AWS SDK, or the registry's MCP endpoint and is available in all AWS regions where AWS Agent Registry is offered: US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), and Europe (Ireland). For more information, see the AWS Agent Registry documentation.
