New feature

AWS Billing and Cost Management now provides billing context for your account through a new API

AWS Billing and Cost Management introduces the ListBillingViewSegments API, enabling retrieval of billing context over a specified period, including account hierarchy and rate settings.

AWS Billing and Cost Management now offers the ListBillingViewSegments API, which returns billing context for a specified period. It allows viewing the configuration of master accounts, billing groups, and accounts managing billing relationships, as well as the applicable pricing settings (chargeable or proforma) applied to billing data. The API returns only billing context, not cost or usage data, and can be called directly or via an AI agent. Billing context may change mid-period, so the API splits the requested period into time segments with valid date ranges. For example, if an account starts as its own payer, then becomes a member account of another organization, and later a new payer manages billing through AWS Billing Conductor, a request covering these periods returns three segments, each identifying the account and billing settings in effect. ListBillingViewSegments is available in all commercial AWS regions, incurs no additional charges, and supports major billing views. For details, see the AWS Billing API reference.
