AWS Direct Connect announces flat-rate pricing for dedicated connections
AWS Direct Connect introduces flat-rate pricing for 10G and 100G dedicated connections, eliminating data transfer out charges and offering a single fixed monthly price for predictable budgeting.
AWS Direct Connect now offers a flat-rate pricing model for 10G and 100G dedicated connections. This model eliminates data transfer charges (DTO) within selected tiers, requiring only a fixed monthly fee. Customers can choose from five geographic tiers, ranging from same metro to global, paying a consistent monthly rate aligned with their traffic patterns. The flat-rate model also introduces port pairs, allowing two dedicated connections at different devices or locations to share the same bandwidth and geographic scope-one handling traffic while the other remains on standby for redundancy, included at no extra cost. While port pairs are optional, they are recommended. The flat-rate pricing is available across all commercial AWS regions (excluding China regions) and applies only to dedicated connections. Pricing is set per connection, and customers can switch billing modes at any time.
Why it matters
AWS Direct Connect provides dedicated network connectivity between on-premises environments and AWS. This update offers predictable budgeting for workloads with large, sustained data transfer.
