AWS Elemental MediaTailor Monetization Functions adds ad response hooks
AWS Elemental MediaTailor now supports two additional lifecycle hooks for monetization functions, enhancing flexibility in ad personalization and insertion.
Aws elemental mediatailor is a video service that individualizes and inserts ads into live and on-demand streams. This update adds two lifecycle hooks for monetization functions. One hook runs after parsing the ad decision server response and resolving all vast wrappers, before ads are selected and transcoded, allowing customers to call secondary ad sources, remove disallowed ads, or add house ads and promotions. The other hook runs just before mediatailor returns ad pods to the viewer, providing a single call to receive all new individualized ad breaks for a final check before playback. Pre-built recipes in the mediatailor console provide starting points for each use case. Both hooks are fail-open; on timeout, expression errors, or resource limits, mediatailor discards the function output and continues with default ad insertion, ensuring uninterrupted viewer playback. The new hooks are available in all aws regions where aws elemental mediatailor is offered.
