Amazon EC2 M8id instances now available in Asia Pacific (Malaysia) and Asia Pacific (Sydney)

Amazon EC2 M8id instances, featuring up to 22.8 TB of NVMe-based SSD local storage, are now available in Asia Pacific (Malaysia) and Asia Pacific (Sydney). Designed for workloads requiring a balance of compute and memory resources with high-speed, low-latency local block storage, these instances offer 3x more vCPUs, memory, and local storage compared to previous sixth-generation instances.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) M8id instances are now available in the Asia Pacific (Malaysia) and Asia Pacific (Sydney) regions. Designed for workloads needing balanced compute and memory resources with fast, low-latency local NVMe-based SSD storage up to 22.8 TB, they suit data logging, media processing, and mid-sized datastores. Compared to previous sixth-gen instances, M8id offers triple the vCPUs, memory, and local storage, up to 43% higher compute performance, and 3.3x memory bandwidth. I/O-intensive database workloads see up to 46% performance gains, and real-time analytics queries run up to 30% faster. Customers can adjust network and Amazon EBS bandwidth by 25% using EC2 instance bandwidth weighting to better optimize resource allocation. These instances provide Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) networking in 24xlarge, 48xlarge, metal-24xl, and metal-48xl sizes and are available through Savings Plans, On-Demand, and Spot Instances. For more information, visit the Amazon EC2 M8id page.

Why it matters

Amazon EC2 M8id instances are a new instance type designed for workloads requiring a balance of compute and memory resources along with high-speed, low-latency local block storage, enabling more efficient execution of tasks such as data logging, media processing, and medium-sized data stores.
