AWS Transfer Family supports custom ports for public SFTP servers
AWS Transfer Family now allows configuration of custom ports on public SFTP servers and selection of a communication mode for each port, enabling multiple ports on a single server.
AWS Transfer Family now allows configuring custom ports and selecting communication modes for each port on public SFTP servers. This enables a single server to support clients requiring different ports or specific SFTP connection initiation methods. Previously, only port 22 with server-initiated connections was supported, but now up to three ports (22 or any between 2000 and 65535) can be set. Since some clients initiate connections from their side, where server-initiated ports may stop connections, each port can be set for client or server initiation, allowing redirection based on client behavior. Using ports other than 22 also reduces unwanted connection attempts from scanners targeting port 22. This feature is available in all AWS regions where Transfer Family public SFTP servers are offered. For details, see the AWS Transfer Family console, AWS CLI, AWS SDK, or the user guide's 'Creating SFTP-enabled servers' section.
