Amazon ElastiCache Serverless for Valkey now supports public endpoints

Amazon ElastiCache Serverless for Valkey now supports public endpoints, allowing direct connections from outside AWS without VPN, bastion hosts, or SSH tunnels.

Amazon ElastiCache Serverless for Valkey now supports public endpoints, enabling direct connections from laptops, serverless functions, or applications outside AWS. This eliminates the need for VPC setup or infrastructure provisioning and allows creation in under a minute. IAM authentication over TLS 1.3 removes the need for password management or rotation. Connections can be made using Valkey clients with Valkey GLIDE version 2.2 or later, or developer toolkits. Public endpoints are available in all commercial AWS regions and China regions at no additional cost beyond standard ElastiCache Serverless pricing. Serverless caches with Valkey 9.0 or later can be created and started using the AWS Management Console, AWS SDK, or AWS CLI.

Why it matters

This update is useful for developers and deployment teams who need direct cache access from applications or tools outside AWS.
