New feature

Amazon Kinesis Video Streams now supports VPC endpoints with AWS PrivateLink

Amazon Kinesis Video Streams now supports interface VPC endpoints powered by AWS PrivateLink, enabling private connectivity from your VPC.

Amazon Kinesis Video Streams now supports interface VPC endpoints via AWS PrivateLink, keeping traffic within the AWS network and off the public internet. Customers with strict security, compliance, or network isolation requirements can ingest, store, and play back video without internet gateways, NAT devices, or public IP addresses. Cameras or IoT video workloads in private subnets can send media to Kinesis Video Streams and retrieve it via private connections for playback and analytics. The endpoints can be created through the Amazon VPC console, AWS CLI, or AWS SDK, with VPC endpoint policies attached for access control. They are available in all AWS regions where Kinesis Video Streams is offered, including AWS GovCloud (US) and China (Beijing) region (operated by Sinnet).

Why it matters

Customers with strict security or compliance requirements can process video without internet gateways or public IP addresses.
