Amazon Redshift rg.large instances now support single-node clusters, offering a cost-effective option for smaller workloads that do not require high availability

Amazon Redshift now supports single-node clusters with rg.large instances featuring AWS Graviton processors. These instances are up to 2.4x faster and 30% cheaper per vCPU than previous RA3 instances. They include Redshift's custom vectorized data lake query engine, enabling SQL analytics on Apache Iceberg and Parquet data across data warehouses and lakes with a single engine. Available in patch versions after P204, these RG instances suit small workloads without high availability requirements.

Why it matters

Amazon Redshift is AWS's service for querying large-scale data warehouses and data lakes. This update supports single-node clusters for smaller workloads, improving cost efficiency.
