New feature

Claude Sonnet 5.5 now available on AWS

AWS now offers Claude Sonnet 5.5, a smarter and more efficient model that delivers improved performance for coding and knowledge work at lower cost and faster speed.

AWS has launched the smarter, more efficient AI model claude Sonnet 5.5, an evolution over Sonnet 5 that offers teams a natural upgrade. It excels in coding by completing well-scoped tasks as part of larger strategies within a single session, enabling function building, modification, and output validation against requirements. For knowledge work, it produces shareable artifacts-from editing documents and cleaning spreadsheets to summarizing pages and diagrams. Customers can access claude Sonnet 5.5 via Amazon Bedrock, which keeps data within AWS infrastructure and provides regional data residency plus AWS management features like Guardrails and Knowledge Bases, or through the claude Platform on AWS, offering direct access to Anthropic's native platform via the AWS console for integrated billing, authentication, building, testing, and deployment.

Why it matters

Claude Sonnet is an AI model that assists with development and knowledge work, and this update improves performance and efficiency, offering value to developers and business users.
