New feature

AWS DataSync Enhanced mode now supports FSx for OpenZFS, NFS 4.2, and object metadata controls

AWS DataSync Enhanced mode now supports Amazon FSx for OpenZFS as a source or destination, NFS version 4.2, and object metadata controls, enhancing flexibility and control for data transfers without affecting existing tasks.

AWS DataSync Enhanced mode now supports Amazon FSx for OpenZFS as a source or destination and NFS version 4.2 on on-premises NFS servers and FSx for OpenZFS file systems. It adds a new ObjectMetadata option for object storage transfers, enabling user metadata copy control. This allows transfers where destination metadata must remain intact, such as with AWS Storage Gateway buckets, or when source metadata keys are incompatible with the destination, like Azure Blob Storage. Existing tasks remain unaffected and continue on schedule. These features are available in all AWS regions where AWS DataSync Enhanced mode is supported. For details, see AWS DataSync documentation.

Why it matters

AWS DataSync is a high-speed, secure data transfer solution, and this update adds support for new protocols like FSx for OpenZFS and NFS 4.2, along with object metadata controls, making data migration and backup workflows more flexible.
