Introducing time series collections for the next generation of Amazon OpenSearch Serverless

Amazon OpenSearch Serverless now supports time series collections, enabling customers to ingest, store, and analyze logs, metrics, traces, and event data without provisioning or managing clusters

Today we announced support for time series collections in the next version of Amazon OpenSearch Serverless. These collections allow ingesting, storing, and analyzing logs, metrics, traces, and event data without provisioning or managing clusters. They automatically absorb ingest peaks, enable fast querying of recent data, and provide low-cost search for monthly or yearly history. In addition to the existing hot storage tier, a new low-cost warm storage tier has been added, eliminating the need to store infrequently accessed data at hot storage prices. Customers can choose the duration for data to transition from hot to warm storage. With up to 100 TB of hot storage per collection, time series collections can handle high-volume observability workloads such as application monitoring, security analytics, and IoT telemetry. Alerts and anomaly detection are now available, enabling detection of issues or anomalous patterns in logs and event data without additional tools. Time series collections are available in all AWS regions where OpenSearch Serverless is offered.
