AWS has introduced user-managed settings (3LO) for SharePoint, OneDrive, and Confluence data sources in Amazon Bedrock managed knowledge bases. Previously, configuring these sources required generating 2LO credentials from the third party, which was time-consuming and inaccessible to users without system admin rights. With user-managed settings, users can sign in with existing third-party credentials, allowing Amazon Bedrock managed knowledge bases to handle authentication and complete data source setup in minutes. This streamlined experience lowers barriers to using managed knowledge bases, enabling teams to quickly prototype AI assistants based on SharePoint documents, OneDrive files, and Confluence wikis without needing service account credentials from IT administrators. User-managed settings complement existing service account authentication, accelerating data connections while maintaining programmatic enterprise-grade options for production workloads.
