Amazon CloudWatch Omni: AI-first observability for agents and applications

Amazon CloudWatch Omni delivers AI-powered observability centered around teams and applications, combining OpenTelemetry interoperability with CloudWatch scale and reliability for unified monitoring across AWS accounts, Regions, and Azure workloads.

AWS has launched Amazon CloudWatch Omni, the next evolution of Amazon CloudWatch. Omni uses AI to enhance monitoring, streamlining operations from team and application perspectives. It combines OpenTelemetry compatibility with CloudWatch scalability and reliability, centrally managing telemetry across multiple AWS accounts, regions, and Azure workloads. Omni auto-discovers services, maps dependencies, and highlights key metrics to optimize workflows. Users can interact with telemetry via chat, guided console actions, or the Agent Toolkit for AWS. Natural language queries enable Omni to locate relevant telemetry, build dynamic views, and assist in root cause analysis using AWS DevOps Agents. For AI workloads spanning frameworks like LangGraph, CrewAI, OpenAI Agents SDK, Vercel AI SDK, and Strands, Omni offers a dedicated agent monitoring experience and evaluation-driven development workflows, helping validate and refine each prompt, model call, and tool use. To get started, create an Omni space in the CloudWatch console, configure SSO, and sign in to a standalone web experience. Agent developers can install the free CloudWatch Omni extension for VS Code, Cursor, or Kiro to instrument, debug, and evaluate agents locally without needing an AWS account. CloudWatch Omni is generally available in US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Ireland).
