AWS Marketplace launches an AI agent skill for usage-based metering integration
AWS Marketplace has announced the general availability of the metering agent skill, an AI-guided experience that helps sellers build, deploy, and validate usage-based SaaS metering integration directly within their AI coding assistant.
AWS has generally released the AWS Marketplace metering agent skill, an AI-guided experience for building, deploying, and validating usage-based SaaS metering integrations. The skill assists sellers in completing integrations within an AI coding assistant, guiding them from collecting product types and pricing models to recommending appropriate metering APIs, generating tailored integration code and AWS CloudFormation stacks, and running end-to-end tests in AWS Marketplace. It validates dimensions against the seller's actual product configuration, applies built-in guardrails, deploys a serverless metering pipeline using the ResolveCustomer API, BatchMeterUsage API, and Amazon EventBridge, and verifies the integration through live testing. The skill supports concurrent agreements and helps existing sellers inspect, debug, and analyze metering records. It is available through the AWS MCP server for any AI coding assistant that supports MCP, including Amazon Q Developer and Kiro, without requiring plugin installation. To get started, see 'Setting up usage metering for SaaS subscriptions.'
Why it matters
This update benefits sellers offering SaaS products on AWS Marketplace by simplifying and improving the accuracy of building, deploying, and validating usage-based metering integrations.
