Second-generation AWS Outposts racks now available in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions

AWS Outposts allows workloads requiring low latency to on-premises systems to run locally while connecting back to the home Region for application management. Second-generation Outposts racks can now be ordered connected to AWS GovCloud (US-East) and AWS GovCloud (US-West) Regions.

Second-generation AWS Outposts racks are now supported in the AWS GovCloud (US-East) and AWS GovCloud (US-West) regions. This allows organizations from startups to enterprises and public sector bodies to order Outposts racks connected to these regions to optimize for latency and data residency requirements. Outposts enables customers to run latency-sensitive workloads locally while remaining connected to their home region for application management. Customers requiring on-premises data management and processing to meet data residency needs can achieve this using Outposts and AWS services. This regional expansion increases flexibility for customers to connect their Outposts to AWS regions.

Why it matters

AWS Outposts extends AWS infrastructure, services, APIs, and tools to virtually any on-premises data center or colocation space for a consistent hybrid experience. This update makes Outposts available in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, helping customers in government and regulated sectors meet data residency requirements while managing low-latency workloads.
